The U Thant Daw Thein Tin Conditional Assistance Scholarship Fund has recently provided funding to five eighth grade students at the Pantanaw School in Myanmar. The students, twelve and thirteen years old, were selected based on their families economic hardships.

The Pantanaw School is the same school that former UN Secretary-General U Thant attended and later served as its headmaster until June 1947.

This fund was established in 2009 after Daw Aye Aye Thant, The U Thant Institute's Founder and president, visited the school just after Cyclone Nargis.
