PEACE
"Friendship Across Cultures - Education for Peace", inaugurated in USA, South Korea and Algeria
Conceived by U Thant Institute and delivered with the support of UNESCO and UNICEF, this intercultural initiative aims to create a network of students from middle schools around the world to advance peace and promote international understanding through collaborative activities in literature, politics, arts and social science.

“Development and Education Program for Daughters and Communities”, Thailand
This programme in Mai Sai is part of U Thant Institute’s knowledge delivery role in the wider international task-force against trafficking of women and children in Southeast Asia.

U Thant Institute’s involvement in Sri Lanka’s post-Tsunami rebuilding of coastal communities has involved assisting in-country organizations with the provision of much-needed educational amenities.
KNOWLEDGE & EMPOWERMENT
“Traditional Healing and Modern Medicine: A Likely Partnership”, South Africa
The Kenya-based African Medical & Research Foundation (AMREF) has been helping rural African communities since 1957. Supported by the U Thant Institute, its “Traditional Healing and Modern Medicine” initiative focuses on training traditional healers in South Africa to recognize symptoms of diseases such as HIV/AIDS and malaria, and furthermore, to become advocates of modern medical treatment for their patients.
